and how it unfolds

by Gira Bryant

everything
that has come before
has brought me
to this point

here

with my body against
yours and
my heart so full so
open as a rose
leaning toward the sun

with the dew droplets
that carelessly scatter
at the lightest most
casual touch

I had forgotten
you know, that peace
this beingness this
wholeness of only being me

nothing more and nothing less

and staying deep seated
within my own core
and pulsing there
while shutting out everything

everything but this
and creating there, here
sacredness

sacredness of being and
sacredness of connecting
and
the things that move deeper
than words can ever hope
to touch

it is an odd thing
to take pain as pleasure
to drink it and imbibe it
to flourish within its embrace
to crave it so much

and to have even those who
love you most shy away
from that wanton need

it is a satisfying contradiction to
find so much peace there
safe yet hurt
in your embrace
and
just be, there
as everything else falls away
but what I can take for you
and give to you
and nothing else exists

to find the place
I thought I lost
an unexpected field
of endless delights
is a most joysome thing

this is how it feels
