onions have layers and feelings by Charlie Morganit must have been the mood you were in
as you read each word, they didn't move,
just lay there referring to themselves.
that meant if you were not "into" the moment
the pome paid the price of your melancholy.
the author, unread, unappreciated, rigors.
maybe growing horns and strong claws
could be one's defense at such offense
of scanning with a mood such as yours.
each day you shower off Yesterday
and rapidly put on Today; ready.
you leave the house crying smiles. 02/18/2008 Posted on 02/18/2008 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan

| Posted by A. Paige White on 02/18/08 at 06:17 PM Wow, Chaz! Did somebody call you an onion?!? Who was it... I'll go beat them up. This was great. So many things are affected by "mood" for hormonal females for sure. I bet this was written about a woman. Heh. I'm one of the worst. Wish I weren't, but... |

| Posted by Keith McFarlane on 02/19/08 at 04:07 PM Dude you are definitely read and appreciated, as are your individual works. This is intensely lyrical. At least it seems so in the mood I'm in. |

| Posted by Maria Massarella on 02/20/08 at 02:34 PM I think there is more to peel in this poem than what meets the virtual eye, and have come to read again and am still peeling. Love the last stanza and ... isn't it what one does, peel away yesterday to enter smiling the day however this layer may unfold to be... *m.a |
| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 02/25/08 at 05:23 PM Thought provoking read Chaz. I especially like this part: each day you shower off Yesterday
and rapidly put on Today. Congrats on hitting No. 1. |
