A Powerful Poet

by Joe Cramer

I wanted to be a Powerful Poet

and am too frail in my sensibilities.

Crying at Romantic Comedies

Preferring Shakespeare, wouldn't you just know it?

To be more like Robinson Jeffers, I end up like a weakened Ogden Nash

Though my poems are a conundrum, something like corn-beef hash.

So,  in my ever succinct Dickinsonian attempt at verse

Nothing worse

Can be said

For all of these random, futile thoughts that flit in my head.

Hey, if I could write like Robinson Jeffers I would be very happy. I love his stuff. I used to have a first addition "Roan Stallion". I loaned it to someone years ago and never got it back. His Hurt Hawk is one of my favorite poems. I know he was kind of "black listed" because of his views during WII but I still love his writing. Keep up the good work.

I love the fact that these words have occurred to you and which hold wonderful rally in my head for my my benefit and inspiration and my eyes are inspired, indeed to join their rally and cheer.

'For all of these random, futile thoughts that flit in my head.' - I know this feeling! but at times they can be so beautiful and mean a great deal.
