do WE belong? by Charlie Morgansanta ana winds whip me into shape,
bending me at the waist, leaning into
each gust i pull-up my windbreaker
escaping each drop of dry rain.
by now they've become texas winds
and carrying as many sad tales
as those told to mexican ninos,
children of a never-ending summer,
when all texas will once again be
handed to the aztecs, pawnee, and
mexican nations as a nod of good-will
toward those who lived, loved, died here. 02/04/2008 Posted on 02/04/2008 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan
