lucky it isn't yours. by Jared Fladelandhave you ever stood in line
at the grocery store
and suddenly ripped your flesh from the bone?
have you ever
(behind that little snot nosed brat)
stood in line
at the grocery (gotta get home in the next five minutes
gotta get home in the next five minutes)
store
and suddenly ripped your flesh from the bone?
have you (the imperfect, scared, hiding from the world,
uncertain of any certain concrete truths)
ever
(behind that little snot nosed brat)
stood (my feet are killing me. too much walking,
walking for so long)
in line
(this line never seems to move. I've been standing
in the same spot for hours)
at the grocery (gotta get home in the next five minutes
gotta get home in the next five minutes)
store (I don't even like this store. They don't have everything i need)
and suddenly ripped your flesh from the bone?

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 02/04/08 at 04:05 AM extremely interesting because this is a style i'd never think to write in. at the same time, i dig it because i have a great appreciation for anything unique...or off center, so congrats to you jared on this one. and yes, i've been in that line a million times and if i can, i'll try to squish their bread when they're not looking. |

Posted by Eli Skipp on 03/02/08 at 03:24 PM This poem far exceeds the writing skills of both King and Palahniuk (although i have a low opinion of both). This is brilliant, I absolutely adore it. |

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/13/13 at 11:35 PM Definitely unique, very intense, and I have to say "flesh from bone" goes way beyond pulling my hair out. Kudos on POTD! |
