bedroom off the bath by Lalo Kikirikighosts in the mildew
they grow in the corners
feed on the darkness
where the raw stain
spreads his anxiety,
breeding the nightmares
breeding the creatures
damp in the dark
the boy wipes his palms
on the clotted wool blanket
stares at the shadows.
aren't they shifting?
aren't they breathing?
(patient and ravenous)
aren't they watching?
aren't they stalking?
those dragons,
these wolves?

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 02/04/08 at 04:42 AM this could VERY well be my favorite poem i've read in MONTHS. if you read what i've been writing recently, i think it'd be easy to see why. i love the darkness, the slyness and sleek style you write with. every line has a chillin quality and i am extremely extremely impressed. now i must read at least 2 more of your pieces. intense! |
