Posted by Wendy Sparling on 01/23/08 at 03:37 AM Sometimes, your poetry gives me the shivers and I have to read it several times to get the true intentional meaning. This one goes on my faves, you brilliant poet you! |

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/25/08 at 07:10 PM Fascinating, how you take "religious" symbols, shake them, turn them inside out, scoop them out, and make a new landscape. The "silences" the "muted" the "whispers" the "anonymous" quality here gives a undertone of deep power, like a thunderstorm or tornado about to arrive. The implied drone of desire is a strong ongoing undertone... "hell-bent to be heard". In my favorites. |
Posted by Mara Meade on 01/25/08 at 10:23 PM AMEN. Gods with Good intentions. Do they know us at all? Do we know Them?
Very thought provoking. |
Posted by Laura Doom on 01/31/08 at 01:40 PM I have no idea what the true intended meaning is here, though I start out with implications regarding God and gods/devils, and find myself inundated with interpretations. A veritable cornucopia of poetic delights (aka delicious as always Max :) |

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 04/06/08 at 11:44 PM Gods of good intentions with a small g certainly! Jesus said the Kingdom of God is within us ... but you speak of sand castles and the devils "hellbent to be heard"! Indeed thought provoking! |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 06/10/10 at 11:49 AM there is something to be said about devils hell bent to be heard. and however we label or mislabel ourselves, whether we think we are angels or demons or some odd creature playing in the middle of those extremes, still I think no matter who we are or however we are playing this hand given us or we deal the hand to ourselves, still we are all in the same fix of needing hell bent to be heard and brother Max, I hear this poem. |
