lift

by Maria Francesca

lift your spirit
lift your eyes
let your voice fill up the skies

join the movement
join your brothers
arm in arm with one another

march into Selma, Montgomery, D.C.;
I'll march for you if you'll march for me

make a commitment
make a plan
make a haven of this land

act for your children
act for you
act like his dream is your dream, too

lift a pencil
lift your thoughts -
freedom isn't cheaply bought

but with hope in our minds
and with love in our hearts
we can see to the end from the moment we start

lift your spirit
lift your eyes
we are the challenge
and peace is the prize.

This is a "must read" because of the topic and the date and of course the poem. There is a lot of freedom yet to attain. There is a lot of hidden discrimination, and we all probably have some, but it is a question of recognizing it and dealing with it. Communication and education are still the key. Thanks

Excellent - a quick beat to this and an inspiring, enduring message.
