Hook, Line, and Sinker by Kristina WoodhillDr. Seuss
you silly goose
your simple rhyming
lets things loose
you changed my
Dick and boring Jane books
into zippy, zany
word hooks
i met fishes
never mentioned
in tight books
of tight conventions
never
ever
ever
truly'd
seen
a fish nose
loooooooooong
and curly
heard
a fish
a cock-a-doo-crow
swam
in schools
of fish eskimo
you made
this kid
a real book fool
doc
you fished
from
a real cool pool
doc
other hooks
may seem much grander
catch a wish
exhale and stand there
spouting fountained
water sparkles of
champaigning
bubbled mountains
others' thoughts
may think more thinkler
others' eyes
may twink more twinkler
but I'm pleased
you caught me
doc
and reeled me in
hook, line, and sinker

| Posted by A. Paige White on 01/16/08 at 07:46 PM I love Dr. Seuss! The last one I bought (supposedly for my grown son but I knew who it was really for, lol) "Oh the places you'll go"...This is a wonderful poem lauding the great exploit of helping children want to read. |
