wrecking God's trust

by Charlie Morgan

i'm a rusty bucket so don't trust me to hold water;
i could break at my weakest point and at any time.

anymore my wrinkles out-number my days spent grinning
and each afternoon cloud is a reminder of coming age.

one day, bank buildings will be as poor as a cow in India
and Earth can shake humans out to be the lowest on the chain.

vegetation will devour other vegetation, life will eat life;
morphing into an orb of life/death struggle 'til disapperance.

God whispers daily but without hearing-aids the frequency
is too personal, too pointed in a direction as to be missed.

Very nicely done. I can feel your pain! Ane besides god is off in some other universe playing a different game.

life eats life away

Age's never ending cycle...even our skin isn't immune to it. Animals and plants - sometimes I think they're much wiser than this human breed...who's sometimes not so humane. With so much noise in the world, it's hard to hear God's voice, unless one is listening and knows how to hear it. You've covered quite a bit of ground here Chaz.

Hmmm...I see two poems here. One about old age and the other about the end of civilization. Fascinating juxtaposition.

Wow, this is excellent -- still trying to wrap my head around the last stanza, "God whispers daily but without hearing-aids the frequency/is too personal, too pointed in a direction as to be missed." This just screams of the mismatch between true personal beliefs and utter dogmatism...one of my faves of yours so far. Good stuff chaz!

Man, I don't know how I missed this! It's a keeper for sure! And it reminds me so much of my own struggles lately, the thoughts about growing old and the Earth ridding Herself of us, like parasites, and, oh, Charlie, how difficult it is to hear God's speaking to us. Gets right to the heart of it!
