tessellations by Maria Francescaday by day
we give birth
to ourselves
and each other
as mother births child
and as child creates mother
as lovers make love
and as love makes the lovers;
I peel back your rind-
it's myself I discover
so as you give thanks
for the way I accept you
just know I give thanks
for the time that I've kept you;
you've told me you're sorry -
of course I forgive
because giving you love
gives me reason to live.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 01/15/08 at 04:20 AM Great expression and demonstration of this word - tessellation - I even love saying it aloud, as I do reading this poem. My fav lines - "I peel back your rind-
it's myself I discover" - the interweaving in this poem is wonderfully crafted.
