Love Lies Bleeding

by Tony Whitaker

She walks into the room
Both consumed in the want
With ten years gone
Not once seeing the other
We are still “in” love

Anxious trembling bodies
Wrap greedy arms around
Each other’s
Parasitic bodies
and screaming minds
Relieving the ache
From need
To abandoned want

We make love as though
Our last day on earth
Desperate trembles awake
A passion of years
Finding release
From chains
Of time and distance

Very well done! Amazing how those days still exist. The body and mind both demand it! Great read!

One of those poems I think we all can relate to in our own way. I especially like the third stanza Tony. The title reminds me of that epic song, Funeral For A Friend...Elton John...Good-bye Yellow Brick Road.

intense and vivid capture here...I love the efficiency and effectiveness in your words...conveys perfectly the heart stopping feeling....(makes one hold one's breath while reading...in a good way!)
