I never said I was smart, I said I was human

by Howard F Farewell

sleepless night number three thousand and two
four days off a drug induced epiphany
fourteen days past a double self destruction
years off of beautiful indiscresions
all full of lie, love, hate, sex, more love and more lies
never falling out of love...
       just falling in again
               and again

wanting to be there
    not wanting to leave
every second going by and building up more pain
waiting for the shoe to fall in the right place
toppling the wall from so high
    down so hard
sitting in front of two doors
made to choose left or right

but taking an axe to both instead
and crying for the first time in years

Author's Note: I'm sorry won't bring anything back and it won't make this any better of a poem.
