New Gait

by A. Paige White

I sing a voiceless
horse
my bantered canter
can't recant
I can't
speak the peek
in his speak I see
a city peak
I'm hoarse
as the voice
of the voiceless horse
unless he wings me vocal
cords
that bind, negate
before so blind
behind the door
behind new gate
the voiceless horse
I'll chant his canter

c h a n g e

my morse remorseless
codes the voiceless horse
spread my pegasus wings
I gain great
attitudes of gratitude altitude
I stretch over the withers
leaning for the whisper
his talk won't balk
at the neck or next
of ink or charcoaled
-blissed her- blessed
new gates await
before his gait, paws
the new gate
