The One That Got Away by Tota LongmireIf you ever find her,
The pretty little princess
With the pixie dust in her
Hair and her eyes that shine
Just for you and no one else.
Let us normal girls with normal
Hearts know. We don't gleam
Innocent or smell of roses, but
We love and feel just the same.
I won't paint on pixie dust, it
Would look cheap and fake,
And I can't re-cloak myself
In innocence. If you spend
Your life looking for that girl,
"The one," and then don't
Find her, I hope you think of
Me as the one that got away. 12/28/2007 Posted on 12/28/2007 Copyright © 2026 Tota Longmire

| Posted by Tony Whitaker on 12/28/07 at 11:21 AM I learned this the hard way. As a young man I had a certain "standard" of beauty that determined who I would date. After my first marriage failed, and some therapy, I learned I was missing out on what is truly important - the beauty within us all! |
