I Hate Poetry

by Erin Jones

i hate poetry

full of love and hate
and everything in between
no matter my mood
it gets me into a bad one
and no matter how beautifully
it may be written
it always gets to me

i hate poetry

it stimulates emotion
forces things upon me
and i especially hate
when i write it myself
because then i start sulking
and feeling sorry for myself
start thinking about
all the things that are wrong
and never stop to consider
what's going right

i hate poetry

it makes me create
worlds of imagination
that i don't necessarily
have the desire to leave

i hate poetry

because it seems to make me
think too much about me

i hate poetry

None taken. I think this poem exemplifies the thin line between love and hate. Nice write Erin.

I really like the angle and approach this poem takes. Quite original! Great choice for POTD also. Congrats! :)
