Did You See?

by Kathleen Wilson

clear evening
for a couple

of days
Venus and Jupiter

(how could we miss)
drew closer and closer

two brightest
planets

eyes
catching conjunction

close pairing
(and then)

Venus was brighter
Jupiter closes in

on the upper right
see them

separate by merely
the width

of your finger
held at arm's length

the smooth waxing crescent
holds up its glass

star chaperones
speculate

the kiss
an illusion

light years
away

eyes
catching conjunction

close pairing
(and then)

I think I like this most of anything you've written so far. And that's saying a lot. I dunno. This one just kinda hit me in a really good way.

Yes, Venus and Jupiter are alright tonight! And so is your style. How excellent we can pull all of it in with the aid of a little cosmic emotion.Great write, Kath. Thanks.

A celestial kiss for all to see. Your poem is a lovely invitation to participate.
