The Five Month Ruse

by Anastasia Shows

The words splintered my ears as i sipped my lukewarm tea,
and the world slowed down as the words poured out.
They were potent poison slowly killing me.
could these words be true that cause such self-doubt?

How could i not trust the word of my dearest friend?
The anger seeped out of me as i listened to your crimes,
you knocked on her chamber door with a goal to apprehend.
You chatted about little things; about the good ole times.

Then you went in for the kill.
you asked her to come to bed with you,
that is, if it were her will.
Your judgement so badly askew.

Just one week after the demise of our relationship,
and my sister becomes the object of your ego trip.
