in light of darkness

by Emily Tong

I waited for the rain to hear
it beat across my roof in
drifts, like wisp of wind, falling
from branches and sky the
same. your breathing keeps me
awake as well, I guess. I
wonder what dream could put
such weight on your chest. I'd
not wake you but to have
you listen to the rain with me;
but even then, would you hear
the same music?
