you've got all the answers

by Ava Blu

my hair stays permanently knotted and
i don’t want you to run your fingers through

you’re still yelling through the screen door,
arms stretched out, waiting for something to grab hold

i will only snicker away,
knowing those hands are justhands justthese things i know nothing of
thesehands unable to untie the simplest knot

i speak in questions now
no answers to believe or give or send away

you’re biting through
and i can’t hear

gnawing at your ear
the dead lay beside the curb
and i will draw chalk lines

i have watched
you buy every gift
every lover
every thing

without debate

now i ease into sheets
i was never made to touch.

I like those last two lines.
