song of the new patriot

by Morgan D Hafele

we allow ourselves to become
docile and stupid
overly deep in debt
marching to the beat of servitude.
-I worship the all-mighty dollar-
especially now.
now that it's worth less
than ever before because
mongers we won't allow ourselves to control
are eating us
from within.

they say they're looking for terrorists.

I say look in the mirror.

Author's Note: I whole heartedly believe that the United States of America is being run by terrorists.
The war on terror that we are fighting now is a front for profiteers and those who would gladly trade their souls for a patch of dessert full of oil.
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are terrorists. I will not argue this any more than I all ready have in the past. I've nearly lost three jobs and almost had multiple fists shoved down my throat because of this belief. I just wish I had written this piece 5 years ago.
It's been hard to be an American since we attacked Iraq because most of my fellow Americans would rather turn a blind eye and let the administration tell them what ever they want them to believe.
I'm gutless and poor. I wish I had been more active in opposing an administration that would steal the election two terms in a row, and now I hope that the men who pretend to be our leaders will get what they rightly deserve...

This is the truth...bitter and chilling! We better all wake up before we blow ourselves and the rest of this world up! MFS

I'm still very thankful to be an American, this poem doesn't change or offend that. I'm approaching this Thanksgiving season with real thanksgiving and I see this poem as a great reminder to be grateful that we have the protected right to say whatever we think about whoever is temporarily installed as highest powers in this land. Thank you for another fresh reason to have a grateful heart.

Profound stuff; sobering in its grasp of one side of the reality. I may not be an American, but sleep more peacefully at night knowing she (U.S.A.) is close by.

I'm proud to be a citizen of the world, which is enough of a daily struggle for me. I intend to leave it at that. Good words.

This post has stayed on my mind. Proud to be an American... I choose to remember the common man, I choose to research how many millions of dollars Americans donate to other nations for food and supplies in case of catastrophies (not loan, give) through agencies like the Red Cross, Hopegivers International, etc. I know how many times I have personally been moved to actually put my money where I say my heart is, and it's more often than not, not in this nation where we're a bunch of spoiled brats too caught up in gimme gimme gimme to see just how good we have it. Yeah, we've had some really awful things done by people in power. What nation hasn't? But the regular guy here in the USA... He's my hero. He's the reason I have a heart full of thanksgiving and will gratefully salute my flag and hold it in highest esteem. Sorry. I just can't make myself focus on what the elected officials will give an account for. I'm focusing on what I will give an account for. Yeah. I'm proud to be an American.

Great words Paige, I could not agree more.
