a candle's quiet flame (haiku)
by Sigurdur Haraldsson
a candle's quiet flame
sheltered in a window pane
- autumn rain
Author's Note: This won the first place in the October 2007 kukai in the Tadpole Society, where the topic word was "candle".

there is much beauty in this ode. the disparate imagery works well and lend it necessary irony and pathos.
