The Amazing Race

by Harold Millican

The Amazing Race

The race to live,
Born on the edge, constantly losing time
Flying in the sky, navigating an endless maze
Hoping not to die

The race to love,
Blind, fighting with lethal emotion
Trying to learn the meaning of devotion
Proceeding with caution
Though diving in quickly
On a mission to find a life partner
So you wont lose your sanity
Willing to love everyone
No matter what wrong they’ve done
To understand before persecution
To reduce conflict, with dialog and resolution

The race to prove,
To strive to find the good in all
Sacrificing your soul when life calls
Bearing down only to lose your mind
Saving all you can from remaining in the past
Moving them forward
With a nudge
Offering minds an open look, a contemporary blast

The race to find peace
A happy release, a jovial place
An optimistic base, not a worried shock
A balance on a planet of turmoil

The race to protect
Use all defenses at your disposal
Fighting with your arsenal at hand
A determined, demonic band

The race to express
The race to be free
To be a individual
Not a king or queen of redundancy
To be yourself, no mater what the cost
Freezing a lasting frost
All because you want to set your rules
You are at war with all who stop your journey
The race to find common ground
Realizing our similarities and embracing differences
For how can we respect and love ourselves
When we cannot love one another

Life is that amazing race,
The true test of all things within
Run it how you will
However, remember to handle with care
Because If you don’t, you will fail and be left by the wayside, standing still.

"The race to express The race to be free To be a individual Not a king or queen of redundancy" - love these lines especially.
