lost time

by Mary Frances Spencer

can you
find it?
i seem to have misplaced
hours weeks
some years
long gone
a blur
like the car keys
sunglasses
that really important number
on a really small scrap
i thought i
put it away
in a safe spot
where i could
find it
when i
needed it
most
only to find
myself face to
this face
in the mirror
the ages roll forward
especially in
that bathroom light
and i must
find the now
and quickly
before i drop
another month
in the sink...

Both funny and wise. I love the ending, one cannot go away from this without a smile, mixed with a sense of necessity. Elegantly, succinctly put.
