i see books; read people

by Charlie Morgan

came in early, caught my bookshelf talking;
seems an angel on top started it all.
by 9:30 all had settled, though, still some
mumbles were heard through closed pages.

dipping my cupped hands in future's cool spring,
i am able to pull out tomorrow; of course a few
drippings of the 5th. grade were still hanging on
by the threads of my harlequin romance novels.

yawning, the morning stretches until lunch.
has its way; gets full then becomes afternoon.
outside my door i hear them knit one, purl two,
stitching threads of their hurting lives.

love it, love it, love it - this knitted shawl I shall wrap around myself again and again...

Very good Charlie. My books keep asking to be returned to the library! But yours are obviously more settled and mature than mine.

I'll second what Kristina said.
