Geraniums Blue and Peacocks Red

by Paganini Jones

And though they all argued (they knew it was true)
That geraniums are red and peacocks blue
Again and again the little girl said
"There's geraniums blue and peacocks red."
And no one would look with the little girl's eyes
To delight in this wonderful, glorious surprise,
To discover a world delightfully new
Full of peacocks red and geraniums blue.

Why argue instead of watching a flower
Fly to its nest in a springtime shower
Of hornets, refreshing the ground with rain
Reviving my peacocks to stand proud again?
Does it matter a jot in the scheme of things
If a bird has petals or a flower has wings?
