i'm changing

by Charlie Morgan

i must be about something;
not just a vagrant possessor
of so-few-to-count tomorrows;

a steady diet of lethargy's
made me quite effecient at
scowling, needed or not.

i'll start

packing the aging tree's trunk
with paper-thin onion-slivers
for the next fruitful generation

and planting for the well-spring;
brimmed, johnny appleseeding along,
lustfully giving the wind my back.

buying confidence with wispy chips,
i see the tail of the kite; it swirls
yesterday into a pregnant tomorrow.

I adore the way you've written about your life's shifting seasons. Just lovely.

Mmmm. There's wit and wisdom here, with your usual whimsy but more reflective. This is wonderful - its on my Favourites list.

Marvelous - "packing the aging tree's trunk..." "johnnyappleseeding along", and especially "planting for the well-spring". This is inspiring change with a looking forward that pulls me along.
