Blame It On The Dog Star

by J. P. Davies

Sirius we renamed you
in joyful servitude
tracing the belt of Orion
we followed the path to you

You, the second sun
I wished upon for redemption
and still I follow your path
through driver's side glass
and remember dubbing
with our name
with our lives

our star.

a lovely little ode which makes me wonder if any of the stars the teacher tagged my test paper with, were Sirius?
