Shatter Dance

by Max Bouillet

Her path always leads to
broken glass.

She has had a private war with mirrors
ever since she learned
to hate herself.

She breaks every one
that bears her image.

The sound of the shatter
makes her shudder
and she dances in ecstasy
among the spreading shards
desperately trying to forget
she is the one
that is broken.

Max, the perception in your words is incredible. Aren't we all like that at times? We see so many outward faults, but to look within is so difficult and painful.

Another lost soul, eh? There seems to be a lot of them about these days. Excellent work.

At first, my eyes read "The sound of her shudder..." and the imagery that came with it was sooooo interesting.

Intense and potent! The mixed images of broken mirror and broken self one the symbol of the other is very effective.

And this poem tells of is sad broken reality —so often in this confusing culture. It is with shattering movement of thought and words that you pulled this poem into the daylight. I would hope to share it with some precious souls under wing. Unforgettable, your delivery. —Jill

Sad, of course, but well portrayed. In this day and age, I'd be surprised if there was a person out there who couldn't empathize with the feeling of this in some manner.

Bare feet and hard hat, prerequisites in tracking the lineage of mirrors :) Another sublime excerpt from your library of screamplays...
