I always was the wind

by Vere Mantratriad

I always was
the wind
flittering through
your hair
reminding
that there was
something else
on the way

I spread
seeds,
word and garbage
set out by
anyone just
to have
someone to
touch

I brought
thunder,
flashes and heat
storms of
my making
and sometimes,
though lesser,
of yours

I fought,
howled,
trying to move
you but you
steadied your
legs to
hold tight
to you

I wanted to be
the wind
drying across
your sweating skin

but all you'll
let me be is
hurricane
force deadly
