Casting The Net

by George Hoerner

my net is cast
from the deck
i watch sun and sea
pass through
as i have passed
through life

twisted cords
settle into blue waters
seeking depths
for life giving
sustenance

i watch the sea
return again and again
what was put
into it and

watching life
return to me
in my net
more than i have given

accepting life's nourishment
my net drips
and i find snared
feelings - colors –sounds
tastes - smells

all those things
i need to survive
pleasure - pain - longing
acceptance - despair - love
existence

...george, i'm agreeing w/ babs...not only a great allegory/story but one of flow and lovley parsing...love the breaks...breaks are part of the story-line too, breaks a reader THE way you want 'em to see it(the line or entire poem)...love too the concept of 'your pulling back in your net all the crap we've put in the ocean and yet the last two stanzas put a wonderful aroma to it, kudos...peace, chaz

in casting your net, you have in reeling it in, certainly captured me along with all those other things you need to live and one of those things is love, mine. I love you George, my friend, not to mention this poem.
