bookmark

by Shirin Swift

Day is strolling into night travelling into stars and tablecloths of white eternities and men from Mars deviating off prescribed paths – you know how the other day the light-spectrum clutched us and you held on to my lips overgrown with trembles of shy new pollen just unearthed by your fingers. A steep smile stumbles off her face pierced by the headlights of oncoming traffic. In sleep, room buffeted by truck sounds, their bodies are straight and steady and pliable as bookmarks, souls fishing with dream tackle beyond the reach of trolls, the night otter swimming into day under the warm soft sleeping bridges. Nestling on the shelf between the hard covers of being and the softer pages of memory, two bookmarks of pliant soul, touch awkwardly as if suffering in the memory of oneness.

Beautiful in concept, and realization of form, the language lyrical and nourishing. I feel so in tune --as I literally do this, make bookmarks of precious words, images to glance to hold between "hard covers" and in the "softer pages of memory". Ah "two bookmarks" even. Very very dear and loving, I feel the "trembles and the "night otters". Love them all.

Marvelous in words and presentation. The font and border color set this off beautifully with its unique phrasing - "tablecloths of white eternities" and "souls fishing with dream tackle beyond the reach of trolls" are my favs.

This is brilliant! I loved the concept, your layout and the wonderful word choice!

Excellent and original on here...not sure if anyone else has done this. Tender emotions expressed with images that stay in the mind.

Beautiful and briliant! I am nominating this for PotD..."fishing with dream tackle" was my favourite line. I think this is asthetically gorgeous and wonderfully worded! Bravo!
