Convert

by Tony Whitaker

Eating a protein cookie
get ready to pound the weights
drinking coffee, a diet Pepsi
the gym for me awaits

Circuit training for aerobics
though the weights be a little light
twenty repetitions slow and steady
and thirty sets without respite

Heart races like a runners
drive home feeling drained
then play guitar so easy
thrill at the refrain

At times I write a poem
around love and life and hurt
for the mind, words
are weights of gold
with reps will convert

I'm pondering this with a grin, as I more and more frequently miss my daily gym date to sit instead and exercise my pen. Clever poem.

Reads like a good workout for body mind and soul Tony. Coincidentally, my girlfriend and I go lap swimming Thursday nights. Thanks for the reminder! :o)
