as if in a dream

by Peter Humphreys

she
stands
alone
crying
in a
desert
which
does not
yet
know
her name
and
as each
droplet
falls
a tender
flower
unfolds
until
and
so
a
meadow
of
crimson
poppies
flows

Mesmerizing and bittersweet. The form is excellent!
