My Better Judgment (Addendum).

by Andrew S Adams

and how many times can you be so wrong before
you throw your hands in the air, walk back to your
own room and consider that what you had originally
thought would be your one way ticket to eternal
happiness and love really turned out to be
what she always said it would be
and what you always knew it would be
even though you hoped against every odd
that ever made it's presence known to you
that some way by some cosmic sliver of
chance that she could truly love you with
her whole, damaged heart-

how many times do you do that?

there is a dark cloud hanging in the
air, waiting for you to breathe her
in so she can finally let you down
for the last time.
