When the Clock Reminds Me

by Ken Harnisch

When the clock reminds me of what is
While we sit and sip
And reminisce
I will smile and watch your eyes
Dancing in their sockets
Sometimes merrily
And sometimes
With a deep contemplation
That knows no other words
And in that unspoken moment
I will smile and be glad
For the fact
I have forgotten how to tell time
And remember, again,
How we never did some nights.

Excellent! I see much of my own current life in this. I especially like the eyes dancing in their sockets description and implication.
