People Express?

by Chris Sorrenti

They call me any time of the day, at all hours of the night; trying to book a flight
to another part of the States, and I don’t even own a plane!

I’ve gotten the latest gossip at 2 in the morning from movie stars in Hollywood,
discussed character development with a novelist at 5AM, dialing from the heart of Maine.
Hobnobbed with housewives, middle class folks in Charleston and Boulder,
most of whom never even heard of Ottawa, let alone know where it is.

They have the right phone number, just the wrong area code.
I say, “Hey there - you’re talking to Canada!”
The sounds of surprise at the other end more than make up for any inconvenience.

I’ve contemplated changing my number, but aside from the odd seat sale,
it’s probably not worth the trouble.
Fact is, I’ve gotten quite used to chatting with my neighbours to the south,
and must say I’ve liked them all.
Who knows? Someday when I strike it rich, might even start my own airline!

Sometime's the misdialed number can be the right conversation, just look at the inspiration...:)

*laughing* Well you be sure to let me know when you start that venture. I'd like to book one of them trips!

Delightful way to meet new people I guess! When I receive a wrong numbers they usually just hang up often without even saying, "sorry". Anyway a delightful read.

What a pleasant way to start my morning...well, almost afternoon. Yes, it must be interesting talking to all those people. You might even win a little gold statue for good acting and being so nice.
