lingers

by Kate Swearingen

I will wait—
wade through days when
your shadow ripples like
ice through my spine
and when I forsake my
hands for memories
of your velvet touch;
I will climb through webs of
neon remembrances from
smiles and fear that echo
like broken windchimes
through the silence of
my loneliness—
From ages away your
presence lingers
and I will wait to see
you in my dreams.

hauntingly beautiful

Haunting and beautiful indeed. Though undoubtedly an affectionate poem, it has, to me anyway, a dreary feel to it. Which is excellent of course, I adore it, particularly this section:- "fear that echo like broken windchimes through the silence of my loneliness"... An excellent work.
