in the mirror

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

Did you ever notice
how one day she looks like me
and sounds like you
yeah said she but you know
they say
mockery is the sincerest form of flattery
but who is she really I said
I am not sure
said we but who are we to choose?
let her be who she wants
she loves them all
that is the thing
never staying monogamous may be
her nature
leastways that is what I see
when I look at her
in the mirror

lol! Every time I see that name, Lizzie Borden, I see a tipsy young woman in the French Quarter of New Orleans one halloween night, the year before Katrina, dragging her weary axe behind her trying to find her car... back and forth she went... finally stopped her and asked her to take a picture with Chip, she didn't even want to get close to him, lol, he really looked like a devil. I don't even know who Lizzie Borden is, guess I missed that movie.
