redefine: innocence.

by Aaron Michael

i can still hear your voice
in the pindrop
when time has an echo
you're speaking assurance
and kissing my forehead
to let me know i can
still sleep and wake
up the next morning.

as grown as i think i've become
i still feel the need to be a child
to be wrapped in invulnurability
just for a beat and a breath
until i get the feeling
that someone else is going
to shoulder the weight of the world
before life even knows i'm scared.

even though i'm strong and
even if the world crashes, and
i hold my own,
i'd rather you be here
so i could hear you in everything
instead of inbetween it.

Emotionally charged. You strike a note all active in combat military can relate to. Striking! POTD material.

The title is so simple, even the meaning of the word is simple, thought the expression of emotion within this piece is far from that. I enjoyed the honesty.Well written.

I'd say you do. Beautifully expressed.

As you will know by now, this is particularly meaningful to me for a reason that exists in another dimension. And so I find, by the very nature of this poem's depth, you reach and give and establish epiphanies —most perfectly.

That last stanza says it all. Fantastic.

What subtle emotion is packed into these words - I'm stron, but I'm not strong and I need you beside me, no matter what. CONGRATULATIONS ON POTD!
