An Ode to Mockery

by Ken Harnisch

Some scour their own depths
To make sense of the
Utterly insane
I would be the first to say
Write on, for I know well the catharsis
That comes with writing out the pain.
Myself, I have indulged in both silence
And its noisy antithesis
And I think, for now, I prefer the muteness of reflection
To the cacophony of purge
I do not deny the sordid pages of my life
Or leave them unread for very long
But by being sardonic and sensual
I continuously mock the author
Of the grief that gave them birth.

So often do I "prefer the muteness of reflection", it has become my tent. This poem is gentle, prodding many deep thoughts.

A very thoughtful piece. I like how you look at yourself squarely in the face and your different approaches to expressing situations.

*Softest Smile*.... ummmmmmmm... how does anyone find the words to comment something so very honest?
