I Wonder by Alisa JsWe sit around the television screen
And talk about how well have breakfast tomorrow
How the last time we went
The food was incredible and we reminisce
But we never go
On a hectic afternoon, smack in the middle
Of a crazy week, filled with appointments
Schedules, deadlines, many missed
We talk of a cruise, a vacation, to rest
Room service, flowing wine and taking it easy
But we never go
Time marches on, spring flew by in a blink
Summer is pressing its way
A hint of something cool fills the air,
Is this all there is to living
The extent of my being
And I wonder
I seem to remember another life in some faraway place
Glimpses flash, memories filter
Is it possible again to rekindle, retrieve?
Step out in faith for the next step
Of anything better than this,
Or am I just beat to the ground
By the sound of my slow demise
Stay here and die, eventually
What a waste of a life where promise once breathed
It this all thats left of me
And I wonder

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 08/05/07 at 03:43 AM Yes, I wonder sometimes, too. You've echoed thoughts that I've had too much. It's funny, in my older years, I'm taking action on some of the things I dreamed about in my younger years. Insightful poem, Alisa.
