Rum Filled Butterfly by Christopher ShinSlipping as you slide
from the gilded wings.
How I wish I could fly
with you each night.
Slowly the liquor
and cigarette smoke
melt the years that
divided me from you.
The misery drives
the bottle to be empty,
and how I wish you
could understand me.
Regrets of the words
that flow through
from the white pale bottle
intoxicated me.
And slowly butterflies
fill through the
naked nights as they
blend and take you
away from me. 07/28/2007 Posted on 07/29/2007 Copyright © 2024 Christopher Shin

Posted by Tony Whitaker on 07/29/07 at 07:48 AM Wow! Knock me off my feet will you. From the "gilded wing" metaphor, through the relentless "me", strong imagery propels this one into a great work and into my favorites! |
