ash plant

by Peter Humphreys

against
the tableau
of a western sky
she stands
lichen lawned
mossy moored
ivy clad
still standing
defiant
against
atlantic gale
here
when every
red coloured
sail filled
the bay
with fortune
solitary
now
and yet
unbowed
she lives
the past
unfutured

Seductive flow of words here Peter. Great ending also!

Aain your form mirrors content as the solitary tree-- and evokes the singular staying og the ageless-- symbol of generation, transformation and even of watery birth thus overlooking the "atlantic gale" (even "mossy moored") and again "the past unfutured" is a wonderful construction, like "future memories" in another of your poems.
