Let Freedom Ring

by Tony Whitaker

He’s a man I admire
the way he handled those that hate
a giver rather than taker
from the masses separates
his heart was full of gold
but his words could still you cold
he was known as Martin Luther
the Promised Land now holds his soul

The content of character
not the color of our skin
a dream he felt self-evident
as he preached until the end
he marched with his army
their only weapons were their words
but he crossed over to the Promised Land
before all their words were heard

As a man of God he preached
we are ALL God's children in His eyes
if he’d lived a little longer
would this hate see its demise
but we shall never know
these bigot devils in disguise

Though they took his life in Memphis
he knew this day would come
now show respect
rather than spit
for the martyr Dr. King
and recall his prayer for us all
I have a dream
let freedom ring

will you heed his altar call?

Excellent tribute to MLK and an engaging rhythm and strength to the message.

Hi Tony, Good one. A good tribute for MLK, reguardless how people felt about him or said.
