everywhere

by Jared Fladeland

everywhere i turn
i fall in love,
like that first whoosh of jumping off
a ladder two feet above ground,
wondering if you're going to make it.

it is painstakingly obvious to me
that the world is filled with too much beauty.
the old woman with the over-sized yellow fedora,
bug-eyed brown tinted sunglasses,
and the leathery, too-much-time-in-a-tanning-bed skin
walking through the supermarket like a queen:
now she's theatrical.

your smile between moments,
your eyes when you're being silly:
they sparkle.

everywhere around me,
it's nothing less of a shot-in-the-gut beauty,
and it's simply overwhelming.

This is awesome!!! I love the appreciation, without gall or judgment.
