New Shoes by Susan Q TomasNew shoes
to wear with my new suit,
to wear to my new job
to pay for my new apartment,
where I live my new life.
These shoes look great!
Very supportive and comfortable
I like my new shoes. 06/30/2007 Author's Note: You would think a preschooler would have written this. But in many ways I am still a child.

Posted by Anne Boulender on 07/14/07 at 08:59 AM I don't really see this as being childlike, but I do think it rules. This is awesome, I'm glad to see this as POTD. |

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/14/07 at 06:31 PM A fine POTD! I love the idea of new shoes - kind of the essence of whether I feel good each day is how well my shoes fit. |
Posted by Don Matley on 09/20/07 at 01:54 AM THE TOPIC IS SIMPLE BUT NOT THE WAY THE POEM WORKS. YOUR SHOES WALK THE READER TO THE POEM'S LOGICAL END. ENOYABLE INDEED. IT IS ALSO A TRAIT OF HUMANITY TO HAVE A STRONG AFFINITY TO THE INANIMATE AT TIMES. |
Posted by Mo Couts on 06/03/11 at 03:32 AM The childlike nature of the poem solidifies that adults, no matter their ages, are sometimes forced to 'start over' and I can respect and appreciate that. Awesome read. |
