New Shoes

by Susan Q Tomas

New shoes
to wear with my new suit,
to wear to my new job
to pay for my new apartment,
where I live my new life.
These shoes look great!
Very supportive and comfortable
I like my new shoes.

Author's Note: You would think a preschooler would have written this. But in many ways I am still a child.

The child like qualities don't just make this poem for me. They make it highy enjoyable! Thanks for sharing

I don't really see this as being childlike, but I do think it rules. This is awesome, I'm glad to see this as POTD.

Short, pithy, well written!

Congratulations on POTD and your new shoes.

A fine POTD! I love the idea of new shoes - kind of the essence of whether I feel good each day is how well my shoes fit.

THE TOPIC IS SIMPLE BUT NOT THE WAY THE POEM WORKS. YOUR SHOES WALK THE READER TO THE POEM'S LOGICAL END. ENOYABLE INDEED. IT IS ALSO A TRAIT OF HUMANITY TO HAVE A STRONG AFFINITY TO THE INANIMATE AT TIMES.

The childlike nature of the poem solidifies that adults, no matter their ages, are sometimes forced to 'start over' and I can respect and appreciate that. Awesome read.
