Summer rain

by Oliver Drewman

You are the gentle cooling shower
That lasts all day
You are the hushed reverberation
Of countless droplets
Falling everywhere
Calming, refreshing, still
Just as the rain comes and goes
We know it will come again
It is a steady zephyr
Carried on the wind
Just as you are
Storing up in clouds
Of thoughtful patience
Encouragement and blessing
Until upon the dry earth
You pour yourself again like rain,
Slowly drop by drop
Until those around you
Refreshed by what they need,
But barely comprehend
What or why or how,
Are given what they need to grow
To grow wild and free
Vibrantly green in your love
Freely given
As if there will be no end
Then stored again
Until there is a need
For summer rain

Author's Note: As we are named in life many times in many ways,so thoughts come about who people really are and how you describe them. I thought this to be apt. To my friend Val
