A Fleeting Moment

by James A Holt

Dance with me under the
Pale moonlight while I softly sing your name.

Close your eyes and allow
Our steps to carry us away.

Feel the wind carress your face
As we soar across the sky.

And hold the moment in your heart while the
Rest of the world walks by.

Author's Note: I just revised the first half of the 4th stanza. I think it does flow better now. Thanks for the suggestions!

The first three stanzas put me on the riverwalk in New Orleans. My sweetheart and I have actually done that to some of the coolest impromptu serenades... once to haunting rhythmic bells and drums by a couple with a boot for donations... The second half of the 4th, "as the rest....." still carries the flow so maybe revise the 1st 1/2 of the 4th to capture the togetherness... Still, quite lovely. Something like,

very simple and eloquent. i believe it to be far more difficult to be pithy and concise while poetic, than to be verbose and vague. good job
