Flies Sprial Around the Corner of 7th & Irving by Curt AlldayI was standing on the corner covered with the mist of fog
Thinking aloud with my bag strapped around me
As the parking tickets circled
Around and around while ruining drivers appetites
Like those circling flies once
Covering mamas thanksgiving mash potatoes
Dont you remember?
She seemed to always dump a bit more salt on the side
To try and dehydrate their hungry fervor for the mantra
Repeating over and over on her antique transistor radio:
I will continue on
I will go on living
I will walk this world alone knowing that
If she doesnt want me,
She cannot have me, so
I open my heart
I pry open the mind
I take hold
And I feel it
I move on, because
Theres no other way to go.
